Drum Designer by UVI doesnt just do kicks, it’s a drum workstation, but the kicks it puts out are top tier. It has a sequencer and effects, as well as a powerful transient processor. Sugar Bytes Dum Computer can also generate some powerful kicks if you learn how to use it. Punchbox is a little too grungy for my taste; their Drumazon 909 is magnificent though. Microtonic is also still very nice, but a little synthetic sounding to be useable in all genres, but that too comes from how you use it. If you get one, it should be the UVI. I have the rest but the more I dig into Drum Designer, the less I think of the others. There aren’t too many kicks it can’t do. Even has tunable 808s.
Hard disagree on Drum Computer.
I know how to use it backwards and I still really struggle to get good kicks out of it.
I think there's something weird going on with the oscillator phase reset and I also suspect that there is some kind of saturation being applied even if all the associated saturation dials are reset.
I find it has a tiny sweet spot and even then it always just feels kind of flaccid and imprecise.
Agreed on UVI's drum designer though, it's very deep and easy to tweak and sounds fantastic.
