I don’t usually view software as a substitute for hardware and I like to be untethered from the computer for much of my playing and composing. I use hardware synths more than software synths, but I like and use both. I like the SX7’s small form factor, its ease of use, audio over USB is a bonus, and I really love the sounds of the pianos and EPs. I basically wanted a simple version of Lounge Lizard and Keyscape in a box, and that’s essentially what the SX7 gives me. The blue looks nice, the black SX8 looks even nicer IMO, but I wasn’t going to spend that much more for a bunch of organ sounds that I would just delete and replace with more pianos and EPs.Well, don't we all. But I'm curious what is appealing about that particular piano hardware such that software wouldn't be a good substitute? It is a cool color, so yeah, I get that, but is there more?I have far more software instruments than hardware. You have an impressive commitment to hardware.![]()
