Good pointAudio receiver should work fine for that purpose. You need to have some sort of device in the chain that does nothing, like Tool, as the first device in the multi-out chain and then it'll appear as an option in audio receiver. One thing that didn't work for me on v4.31 is on Multi-Outs, such as Microtonic.
If, for example, I want to use an effect on the kick chain and then try to get the dry signal of that kick from another track via the "Audio Receiver", I can't get the dry signal no matter which routing I choose from the Multichain selection of the "Audio Receiver".
That's an unusual, and quite surprising, shortcoming in the system...
You are correct! I had a distortion plugin after the kick chain and the confusing thing was that the Audio Receiver, in another track, was showing the distortion plugin from the menu and I was choosing instead the kick MT1 (1/2):
Microtonic Multy > (Devices) Microtonic Multy Chains > MT 1 (1/2) > Distorsion Plugin.
So, the MT 1 (1/2) needs an additional device to be working as a Dry send
