Dune 3 also gives you oscillators as mod sources in the mod matrix. There is a setting you need to change to “high quality modulation” to make it sound good, but it sounds great.I forgot spire can do that! I don't do sound design with spire, I just use the presets (that I freakin love). Not the same and limitedThat's not accurate. Pigments added audio-rate modulation between engines, I think it was on the 3.5 update.A few other key differences are that Current can fm between the different osc types (wavetables, sub, samples, granular), Pigments can't (but has some fm within each wavetable osc).
For exemple in Spire you can modulate any of 4 OSC to other OSC even with the volume set to zero and then modulate the pitch of the OSC source with an LFO or even with another OSC. You can use any waveform even the noise. Of course FM filter is possible.
Basicaly same in Phase Plant but this one can go further with crazy modulation
I think is possible too in MSound Factory
Thanks for this info, I will definitely have a play!
(But it answer my question "how spire sound so freaking good when it is just a simple subtractive synth?"... It I isn't a simple subtractive synth).
