True. But without an optical drive, that DVD is still not much use.sometimes computer OSes are modified by the resellers and they often do the management of the Windows registration stuff, including the DVD's.
so the computer maybe DID come with a DVD, but the resellers kept it or threw it away while they repackaged the system for selling. That's how it used to be anyhow around some parts of the USA
And over my last 25+ years in IT, I've seen more shady small-time computer resellers bundle an OS disc or other software that wasn't even for that computer, or that was for a different region of the world, or that was just a copy of an original disc. Waaaayyy too many of these bastards got away with this stuff in the '90s and '00s because the customer never bothered to look at the disc, or just took the salesman's word for it that it was legitimate. I'm not suggesting that's what happened in the OP's case, however.
