For me, Pigments all day long if I’m building from scratch. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about myself, it’s that I generally dislike digital recreations of vintage analog gear, be it synth or effect.
That said, I have the Arturia V Collection which is good for preset tweaking (which involves me mostly just turning off stuff I don’t want to get some kind of core sound that I can develop with other software that I actually know how to use). I pretty much just use Analog Lab which I have a love/hate relationship with. I love it because I don’t have to install all the individual synths in the collection, but I hate it because it also sucks to use. At least for me…
With pigments, I don’t usually build anything super complex, but it’s versatile and I can go in different directions with it. The GUI is fantastic, it’s fun to use & sounds good, and it just makes sense to me. It’s my desert island soft synth![❤️]()
