Thnx for your extensive feedback eassae! The different frequencies seem separated by range and timbre pretty well to me. Your low kick seems very low, but even when it exists without the other sharp transient kick/snare, I'm not sure what you would classify it as, it still works. It's muffled but don't think that's necessarily a bad thing in the context of this track. You could bring it up a few notes to around an f and see if that makes a difference—might be worse and throw off the mix. I wanted the synth gongs that come in around 3:23 to feel a bit bigger—maybe a bit more center presence and more compressed.
Feels like you could go pretty loud with this, maybe -9 or -8 LUFS. Keep a little bit of dynamics, but still loud and in your face.
I appreciate it a lot.
You’ve got a sharp hearing.
Low kick indeed is very low and close to the ultralow subs in the spectrum.
I did this on purpose to gave the low end a haunting, throbbing drone feel, without becoming too ‘dancy’. I also lowpassed the devil out of that kick to make it as dark/warm as possible.
Had to watch out for becoming muddy tho.
So yeah, muffled was a good way to call it.
Indeed, the gong (church bell) could be a bit more upfront.
In hindsight I used too much reverb.
