I have great respect for when a company makes a faithful 1:1 version of classic hardware. Perhaps for Poly M they were a bit TOO faithful! It could maybe use a bit of streamlining; Cherry Audio did it with their take on the Polymoog, though the sound on theirs is, as usual, a bit flat.
The wacky architecture came around just before the “standard” poly synth layout was established with the Prophet 5. It takes a bit to wrap one’s head around, but that’s a big part of it’s strength.
