Do you really need a maxed out Mac Mini?I think I'm just GASsing. I've got about $4000-$4500 to update my studio and I want all the newness! I'm getting a maxed out Mac Mini M4 Pro so that's gonna eat a big chunk of that. I think if I find myself wanting to try MPE I'll check out the cheap-o Exquis. It's not gonna be anywhere as smooth as Osmose but it could be fun. This is the first time in a long time I've had a substantial chunk of change to play with. I'm gonna slow it down and really consider what would be best for me.
Anyway, congrats on the Osmose!
Although I use much more Linux, my Macbook Air M1 (16 GB/512) is doing just fine with everything audio related, and I expect it to keep that way for the foreseeable future. A maxed out Mac Mini seems to be a waste of money for the purpose, and you probably could save a lot of money going a step-down... (?)
I didn't knew the Exquis (thanks), looks cool and fun as hell too, although not necessary intuitive if you are already used to a launchpad/push/keyboard like system.
Anyway, don't overlook other contenders in the MPE space:

On the topic:
Osmose seems really great, if I was a good keys player (and could afford it) I would be definitively looking at it. Looks fun and more in line with analog expressiveness in terms of hand moves like traditional instruments.
I would love to try one, one of this day's
