Well, the truth be told, his book wasn't really on my radar before seeing the movie. Unlike some works like, say, Slaughterhouse 5 or Catch 22 which back in the day were almost required reading, even before the films came out.One of my friends has told me off on more than one occasion for not having read anything by him. Keep meaning to read Lanark, but will need a few spare months to get through that!I just finished Alasdair Gray's 'Poor Things'.
Another case of being glad that I read the book after seeing the movie.
That said, if you're like me, given how much longer typical novels tend to be, it's generally a good idea to watch the film first. YMMV, of course.
