You are right, I tested it (just quick, with the Ableton Live cpu meter). But, the cpu usage goes completely nuts, when global unison is activated. I always use global unison.Vital at 2x oversampling eats roughly as much CPU time on my system as a heavy Phase Plant patch.Oh, then you probably haven't tried Phase Plant yet. One of the most CPU demanding modern soft synths I know (at least on my Intel Mac).Personally I have had major issues with the VST2 version hoggin´CPU to a point where its completely unusable. VST3 is a little better but still completely unacceptable. Especially when you compare Vital to its competitors:-/
If unknown: In Vital, you can change the oversampling down to draft quality (at the advanced page). Just turn it up, before you render your track.

On Vital, the cpu usage hits at the beginning of the chord the 17% very short, like a peak. It disappears, when 'Voice Override' on the advanced page is set to 'Steal', instead of 'Kill'.
Phase Plant - 8 voice patch - 11% cpu usage
Phase Plant - 8 voice patch - x4 global unison - 45% cpu usage
Vital - 8 voice patch - x2 oversampling - 13% cpu usage
