Are you using a mixer or other audio device? Basically the same procedure you use for latency adjustment could be used for the click track.
1. Have your audio output working with the click track. By default it shows up in the master output.
2. Set the mixer so that the output is bounced back to a track in the mixer; the one you record from
3. Simply record normally. The audio click track should show up in the audio input, same as a vocal or guitar.
4. (IMPORTANT) when satisfied with it, turn OFF that setting in the mixer or audio device, so you don't accidentally
double up audio in the future !
If you don't have a mixer, the procedure is to simply loop the output (via a patch cord or cable) back into the input.
NOTE:
Probably the "better" option is to simply create a simple 1- or 4-bar click track and loop it for as many bars as needed. Keep it around for future use. You can use a wood block or any other beep sound and include accent on, say, 1 and 3. Whatever the drummer likes.
For other musicians, something like MTPDK2 drum loop works well; but might confuse a drummer.
